Ever feel like life sort of happens, and some where in the chaos of things you begin to lose yourself? You fall into routines and the things you once loved to do are only a memory of what once was.
I love my life don't get me wrong. I am happily married, my husband and I have two wonderful boys who keep the smile on my face. I enjoy spending time with my family, but when I get mommy time I normally end up cleaning, or watching Grey's Anatomy. Not that cleaning isn't important, but I'm supposed to be having mommy time.... Me time! I do enjoy watching Grey's Anatomy, but I used to do so much that I no longer do.

I used to write, poems, and songs..... I honestly haven't written in years.
I used to play the keyboard. Never had a lesson, I play by ear, and teaching myself notes. I know tons of people who play better than me and I would NEVER play in front of them due to embarrassment, but I once enjoyed playing the keyboard.
Organizing- I still organize, but now it has become a HAVE TO and I miss the days when it was FUN!
Reading for fun- I miss the days when I was able to sit in the shade on a warm summers day and read a book just for fun. I miss being able to read without having to constantly mark my page and get distracted by something else, by the time I come back I have to re-read what I already read because I took so long taking care of other things that I forgot what I already read.
Shopping- This one I REALLY miss. With the economy the way it is and me being a stay at home mom I get to grocery shop and that is about it. Besides shopping was always more fun when you had a friend to come along. I don't have friends the live close to me.
Card making and scrap booking- I used to sit for hours and make cards and work on scrap booking memories. Now I have no work space besides the kitchen table. I have to clear it off for meals, and homework, etc.... I barely get my stuff set up and ready to go and I have to pack it all back up and put it away again.

It sounds like I have a long list of complaints doesn't it? Well I intend to start doing the things I once loved and enjoyed. It's a part of who I am. I am going to MAKE time for me to do the things I once enjoyed doing. I want to enjoy them again.

What are some things that you enjoy doing? What are some things that you used to do but no longer feel like you have the time to do them? Will you join me in making "ME TIME" again?

To home school or not to home school that is the question?

Anyone out there home school? My husband grew up with both home school and public schooling. I think there could be pros and cons to both.
My son has been having issues at school and I am starting to wonder if pulling him out of public school for a year and home schooling him might help. He says he hates school, but honestly what kid doesn't at one point or another. I honestly think he will say he hates school even if he is home schooled. My concern is not with him liking or not liking school. My concern goes much more in depth, his social skills, his education, the possibility of him getting kicked out of school if his behavior continues.
His teacher has told me multiple times that he is above average, and is with the higher level group of kids when they split up into groups. Yet he has trouble concentrating, trouble paying attention, even at times acts out in class. As a parent I am embarrassed to even admit it. I feel like I have failed my child. My husband and I have tried different things to punish him for his behavior in school. Nothing seems to work. He will go most of the week in green (good behavior) and all of the sudden he will be in pink (the worst color, gets a pink slip sent home, after the second time he gets sent to the principal, and detention.... if it should occur again he could be suspended.) I can't believe my child is acting like this. What is worse I don't know why. If I don't know why I can't fix it.
I got a call from Tyler's teacher and we talked about 30 minutes. She asked if anything had changed at home. I told her his best friend moved away unexpectedly the day after Christmas. Tyler has been acting out at school since he came back from Christmas break. She thinks it might be because of this.... if it's not then we aren't sure what is causing it.
She said he had some problems before Christmas break but they are much worse now. So I have considered pulling Tyler out and teaching him at home to monitor his behavior myself. I would still keep him in Cub Scouts and play groups, etc....
Ideas? Suggestions? Anyone else been there done that? I would love to hear your thoughts!

The power of baking soda

So you probably know that baking soda is used for baking but did you know that there are other uses for baking soda? I didn't until I read the following.....

                                                           Baking soda uses

  •  Facial / skin smoother- mix 3 parts baking soda, 1 part water. Massage gently into skin with a circular motion.
  • Scribble eraser- sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and use it to remove crayon, pencil, and ink marks from painted surfaces. Wipe off residue.
  • Drain unclogger- pour 1 cup baking soda down the drain, chase with 1 cup vinegar. Let sit 5 minutes. Follow with a gallon of boiling water. (I have heard that you should only use this if your pipes are metal so please check before you try this)
  • Make your own bathroom scrub by mixing ¼ cup baking soda with 1 tablespoon liquid detergent. Add vinegar to give it a thick, creamy texture.
  • Foot soak- 3 tablespoons of baking soda in a tub of warm water.
If anyone has any more uses please feel free to share. I would love to hear your ideas.

At home manicure

We all love to be pampered and get a professional manicure, but when it's not in the budget you can still get the desired outcome at home for a fraction of the cost.

Beauty on a budget

We all love to be pampered, but with the economy in the shape it is in let's face it.... We can't always afford it. I have come across some super cheap ways to still get the same desired results.

Hello again,
Anyone love to coupon like me? Couponing for me used to be a hobby, now it's a way of life for me and my family. I do a lot of my shopping at Meijer. If you sign up for mperks you can get electronic coupons. All you have to do at the register is type in your phone number and pin and the coupons you chose on  http://www2.meijer.com/mperks/Default.aspx will be taken off your order. They will also send you emails with an ad preview for the following week. It usually comes out by Friday so you can start planning you trip and see what the next weeks deals will be. I know Kroger has the Kroger card and digital coupons as well.

Another thing I like to do is go to www.sundaycouponpreview.com and actually see what coupons are going to be in my Sunday paper. It is usually pretty accurate for me and the area I live in, but I have been told by very good sources that it doesn't work in Hawaii, and a few other places.

There are tons of websites that can help you learn to coupon, or become a better couponer.

Hello and welcome to my blog simply Amy. Some of you might have followed my other blog anmjensen.webs.com but unfortunately I had technical difficulties with that blog, so I will be using this blog from now on.

For those of you who don't know me... Allow me to introduce myself.
